Intersectional Transfeminist Queer Approach
What is the Intersectional Transfeminist Queer Approach?
There are multiple pieces that make up this approach, and working within the queer community all of them are equally important.
Kimberle Crenshaw created the framework of Intersectionality which highlights individual intersections (race, religion, sex, gender, etc) of identities.
However, the term was designed not to talk about the intersections of identities, but to talk about the intersections of multiple oppressions.
Holeigh was fortunate enough to sit in on a training from Crenshaw in 2021 titled “Fostering Queer & Trans Inclusive Environments” which has strongly impacted her work.
Intersectionality
Shannon Sennot reconceptualized feminist theory to be inclusive of trans-feminine folx to rethink the pathologization of gender non-conformity.
It weaves together feminist thought, social justice frameworks, and principles of allyship.
Transfeminine Theory
Queer Theory
